My new style crush is definitely Kim in the new Vogue Australia. But I love basically everything Christine Centenera does. I think Kim should wear less make up and “un-done” hair always.  One thing I majorly crushing on right now are corsets. I want to wear them over everything and always. I can’t help but feel a little bit embarrassed about the similarities to wearing a “waist trainer” constantly (which is a work out trend I’m not very found of to say the least.) But corsets or thick leather belts at the waist is definitely something I will be wearing this year.

Jag tycker Kim borde ha mindre make up och “ofixat” hår alltid.

#trendspotting – NYFW

Low-rise pants are back! Hopefully in a more classy way than last time we saw it back in the 90’s. Love this look from Cushnie et Ochs. Seen the low-rise styling a lot already on people in Streetstyle snaps and I really like it. But this mix of silky low rise pants with this swimsuit in semi colors is just heartbreakingly good. I love that designer! Also loving the nail style on the model and I wore those same nails in in this outfit. Maybe should get that again? Any way, back to NYFW – I have had a serious case of snapchat FOMO these past days. Ever since snapchat came the FOMO level has raised to a new level. Because now you can actually see live how fun everyone else is having while you are not there. I barely wanted to look at my phone.

What to wear to a festival

I like to keep things kind of casual and I don’t really prefer wearing heels if I’m going to walk around on the grass. So my picks are cute flats or boots. I also keep in mind not to dress in clothes that I’m afraid to get stains on. Or a pair of shoes that would bring me to attack the person who accidentally stepped on them. And I’m not very bohemian in my style (which is the given style for a festival) so I sticked with black leather (you can’t get stains on black leather, haha). I want to be able to enjoy being there and the most important thing of all – keeping a smile on my face! :) Thank you Pepsodent for inviting me to Summerburst. I have done a collaboration with them this month and got to try their white now gold. I actually really enjoy it and find myself using it multiple times during the day if I want to freshen up before a meeting or after having a glass of red wine. Love it!

Jacket: WHISTLES
Shorts: BIKBOK
Top: AERYN PARIS
Bag: REBECKA MINKOFF
Shoes: ASH
Sunglasses: ILLESTEVA

Girl on a budget

15:01 | April 2, 2014

photo-2SHOES, BAGS, SUNGLASSES: The 3 things that can make or brake your outfit. To me you are only as hot as your shoes and it’s worth spending some extra $$$ on it. And if you think it doesn’t show that your sunglasses was only 10$ – you’re wrong.  You can still look cool and trendy with fast fashion accessories if your sense of style is on point.  Kudos to you! But can you look absolutely fabulous? No.

I buy fast fashion clothes all the time. Like Zara (the favorite of course), Monki, H&M, Sfera, Bherska, River Island etc. It isn’t that hard to find good fabic with a good design that isn’t designer. And looking for it actually is a hobby of mine (in stores, I can’t deal with it online.) But with shoes, bags and sunglasses there are more things to be mindful of and the quality of these cost more money for the designer to keep at a high level.

So it is extremely rare that I would ever buy a pair of sunglasses or a bag from either of these stores. And shoes are a no go aswell. Of course there are rare occasions when I find something nice and I feel like I just won the jackpot. But normally there is always something wrong with the shoe if it’s from a fast fashion store. How ever, some designers want to save on some money when making their shoes so they make these mistakes as well. So I wanted to point out to you what I’m always mindful of when shoe shopping:

Always look at the quality, design and execution of the following things:
The material, the zips or buckles, the heel and the sole.
If these aren’t at a high level the shoe might look good from a distance, but when your standing next to someone – it shows.

CECC-784010-BLK_03_1 copyLeft: Cecconello (here) Right: Brian Atwood (here)

Typical example of a good shoe vs. a bad shoe and here is why: First of all, can you believe these two shoes have the same heel hight? The heel on the shoes to the left are so awkward and will make your legs look thicker and your outfit look cheaper (I’m dead serious.) Secondly the shoe isn’t even that cheap (it’s 109€) but still it is in synthetic suede. That never works even if the design is cool. Secondly the zips are cheap looking and the seams are uneven (compared to the Brian Atwood’s on the right which are perfectly even.) And the sole is the thing I hate about them the most. It’s in an awful color of rubber with a shiny plastic finish and you can see how uneven the edges are.

But of course everyone can’t afford $500 and up worth of shoes. So here’s my tips:
1. Wait for the sale.
2. Look for second hand on Ebay (don’t buy fake though!)
3. Consider quality over quantity. Or living on nudels for the month.

Sometimes you can find jackpot shoes among designer shoes like Michael Kors, Steven Madden, Nine West, Kurt Geiger etc. And they don’t have to cost you that much more than a pair of Zara heels. These are very stylish and cleaverly designed Nine West shoes for 91€.

Nialaya

#SELFIES! I WAS at the Nialaya store on Melrose the other day to pick out some jewelry. Nialaya is the expert of making relaxed “beach feel” jewelry look as luxurious as possible. I had such a hard time picking my favorites from their selection. But finally I set my mind on these 3. I LOVE the new design they have of the flat plates (I had mine made in black) and the spikes – so cool. Can’t wait to wear these in the summertime!

Paired it with red shellack nails, Dior roulette red lipstick and my new sunglasses from Elizabeth and James (link here.) I would love to wear this with a mesh bikini this summer (this one preferably – topbottom.)
